What to Bring with You
Self-catering groups
To keep our prices down we do ask that you bring your own cleaning materials and cloths etc. though we will provide you with a simple 'starter pack'.
This is what we provide in Nethy House kitchen and Nethy Station has similar items more suitable to the numbers and cookers.
This is a list of what we suggest that you bring:
All washing-up items
Scourers for pans
Household cleaning items - incl bathroom & toilets n.b. hand soap
Cloths & towels - drying & cleaning
Sharp kitchen knives
Toilet paper
Dustbin bags
Small bags (carrier bags will do) for lining rubbish bins
German groups may wish to bring their own coffee filter items and an electric slicer
If you plan to BBQ then you will need charcoal for the barrel style BBQ
Linen
Don't forget to bring linen if you have not ordered it!
All Groups
Please remember that as the premises is unmanned we are limited in what we can leave on the properties so please remember to bring all your toiletries and personal items.
We are also unable to provide First Aid kits and group leaders should bring these with them.
We do NOT have a dishwasher anymore as groups found it quicker to have a team washing up!
We can lend you a screen and white board but do NOT have access to a projector.
Alcohol
If you are planning to party, or just to sit together in the evenings and enjoy being with your group, then we are the place for you! In spite of new legislation forcing us to give up our alcohol licence, we have also created a suggested list of stock which you can bring with you or order locally from the local grocery shop or from Tesco. Don't forget the ice!
Real Ale
You can arrange delivery of kegs of Real Ale from our local award winning Cairngorm Brewery who have supplied a pump in each property and have offered a generous 15 percent discount for Abernethy Bunkhouses groups.
It is important that you contact them directly through their website's Contact Page and tell them:
a) What you want and will it qualify for the discount
b) To which property you want it delivered
The most popular ales we have found are Trade Winds, Cairngorm Gold and Sheepshagger's. I am sure it is in the name! Beware the others are for a more specialist taste.
Please note that if you want kegs the pump equipment is only suitable for the 30 litre (50 pint) and 50 litre (88 pint) kegs. Other items such as party boxes are also available in different sizes which do not need a pump, so just look on their website.
